Good morning to you all!!! "Sitting in the morning sun, watching all the birds passing by. Oh, how sweet they sing and oh, how I wish that I could fly. And I try. I really try, try, try..." How 'bout you? Those of you who knew me then would hardly recognize me now! Teaching a model secondary education environmental program, based upon the role model of Dr. Jane Goodall and the journals and life of John Muir. In the middle of my 100-day Bhutanese monk indoctrination ritual. Deeply committed to my wife, Margaret Ann. Reading a lot, and going to the movies! I dream of how it might have been.. Boylan and Odence. Richter and Boylan. Conway and Boylan. But no! Had to be Damon and Affleck. Damon and Affleck? What the heck?! ? Hey, right on, you studmuffins! Nice to see a couple of young homeboys from South Boston blowing the industry away. Most special film as well. Would've been more excellent had Will been polishing the floors of Gerry Hall instead. Still, I cried half a dozen times, at least. Very personal to me. Especially the therapy sessions. I've driven more than my share of psychiatrists away, with relish. Excellent!

Amistad made me cry, too. My tears sucked back into my head when Cinque drove that big old sword straight through the captain, however.

In a blast from the past, David Van Wie checked in. "Guy" lives in a hand-hewn log cabin that would make the Unabomber proud. "Life in Maine is fine. Family life is terrific. We are spending way too much time in hockey rinks. I traded in my rugby spikes for hockey skates and stick and have played in a 'Gentleman's League' for the past three years. Much fan, stay fit, pretend I'm young. Speaking of young, my daughter, Rosa '12, is now playing hockey in the Mites league in nearby Auburn. My son Garrett, a.k.a. Bubba '15, is in the learn-to-skate program.

In summer and fall, fly fishing is my thing. Last June I went to the Grant with Phil Odence and Norm Richter. Believe it or not, we actually caught fish! I recently quit my job as V.P. for Jacques Whitford, an environmental consulting firm. I am on my own now, doing environmental management consulting, auditing, training, strategic planning, and environmental mediation. I am working from home and love the flexible schedule. I've tried to back off on the travel so that our kids can see both parents home at the same time once in a while. Also more time to feed the horse and chickens and stoke the woodstove. I'm thinking of offering a combined fly fishing/strategic business planning retreat (in the summer, of course). Any interested clients out there? My dear wife, Cheryl (Bascomb '82), is fine and surviving the role of hockey mom and fishing widow. She is now director of multi-cultural business development at UNUM Life Insurance and loves the challenge of teaching a big company how to sell its products to an increasingly non-white marketplace. That's about it for now. Hope to see y'all in Hanover sometime." Been too long, Guy man. Love to do that fishing thing sometime, minus the strategic planning stuff....

Kate Augenblick took time out from her studio to write. Kate had the pleasure of attending the 25 Years of Coeducation celebration. "Susan Drury ventured down from Toronto to join me. Grace McGorrigan and Regina Barreca come to mind as highlights! It was wonderful and, as corny as this sounds, it was kind of'healing.' What a relief to discover that many of your fellow classmates did not have a picture-perfect experience either. Too bad we didn't discuss this stuff 23 years years ago while it was happening! On the homefront, I still pursue my artwork as well as help my husband with his. Because I wanted to be with my boys (7 and 10) more, I unintentionally got out of the commercial (i.e. gallery) loop. The ironic beauty of this is that I am experiencing the most creative time ever in the studio because there are no pressures to satisfy a particular market or deadline. Absolutely not the most stable profession, but we get up every day being grateful for the opportunity to continue to do what we want to do." Right on, sister! Great to hear from you, Kate!

And lastly, I'm thrilled to report that our favorite I.F.C. president, Pablo krupka is the proud, giddy father of Joel Colin, born back in August. Way to be, Pablo! Heartfelt congratulations to you and Diana.

Peace be with you all. Kindle a vision and pursue it with vigor.. .while you still can....
