We were sorry to read the announcement from Nels Armstrong '71, director of alumni relations, that Jim Collins '84 had not been appointed as editor of this magazine after his long service as acting editor. Your correspondent had supported his promotion, as had manyclass secretaries. We felt that he had done an excellent job in producing an attractive and readable magazine and we regretted the passage of a competent Dartmouth alumnus from die leadership ranks. Armstrong also announced the appointment as editor of Sean Plottner, a graduate of Ohio University. We hope that Plottner may do as well as Collins did.

As we go to press, we hear from Bob McDonald about the final arrangements he is making for the '33 Hanover gettogether on the weekend of Oct. 9. As befits our senior status, the activities will be modest, principally joint meals, but there will be at least 16 classmates and associates definitely on hand, with another four or five probables. It should be a pleasant gathering and Bob deserves much credit for making it a reality. If we hear of any riotous conduct or scandalous doings taking place in the course of the meeting, we'll report such promptly to you for appropriate action.

A talk with Dorothy Chapman informs us that Jarv, although no longer quite able to sail over the hurdles as he once did, is sustained by his family, doubtless including his two generations of male Hanoverians, and is in good sprits and interested in Dartmouth news. We were saddened to learn of the death of Laura Allen. With the music of husband Ted and her occasional verse, many '33 gatherings were made greatly enjoyable over the years.
