Thad planned to be in Hanover Sept. 16 to 19 for what is now called Leadership Weekend. It used to be for class officers but now includes all affiliated alumni groups. I was going to write my column from Hanover, filled with all sorts of fresh news. But alas, not to be. Some nasty dude name of "Floyd" kicked up a bit of rain and wind along the Atlantic and, in all truth, I chickened out on the 350-mile drive. However our intrepid chief fund-raiser, Tom Adams braved it and actually made it to Hartford, Conn., in ten hours from his Philadelphia home base. JohnMcClintock couldn't get off his island retreat on Martha's Vineyard. So the two newsboys in our class were no shows. However, president Buol Hinman came in from Rome, N.Y.; WaltSnickenberger, all the way from New London, N.H.; Win and Andy Gruninger from here in New Jersey (Must've gone by boat. Andy's our treasurer, you know, and I am informed we are in good financial shape.); Jackie and Bob Kimball all the way from Lebanon, N.H.; Robbie and Bill De Stefano from down Cape Cod way, representing the alumni group on the Cape; Marian and Brad Morehouse from Connecticut. He was smart, waited 'til the storm subsided. So you can see, 1946 was well represented. Brad, in case you didn't know, heads up our memorial gifts program. President Buol advises that President Wright spoke at die principal dinner, and from what Buol said I gather that his remarks were not at all controversial, avoiding reference to the Trustees's announcement about fraternities and sororities at Dartmouth. I'm sorry I couldn't attend and give a better report.
Spoke to Don Furber couple of weeks ago. Both Don and wife Margaret are a bit under the weather. You'll remember Don served as our treasurer for many years. I apologize for having no news. Hope to write my next column from Hanover in October, at the conclusion of our minireunion. I will have more to tell you then.
