I'm not going to tell you all about our classmates in this effort. Couple of reasons for that, one being that I don't have any news to report and being overwhelmed somewhat by a New Jersey record-breaking heat wave I just didn't give the telephone any action. But I do want to tell you about two things, two important ones, or so I think.

Number one: Once again our financial genius Tom Adams has done a super job with the annual Alumni Fund. We had set a goal of $157,000, and here's what you did: $181,900! This is an all-time non-reunion figure for our class. The participation was 62.4 percent. To Tom and all his great group of agents, thank you so much. Most of all a great big thank you to all classmates, and widows of classmates, who gave so generously.

Number two: we have a mini-reunion coming up in October. Starts on Thursday, Oct. 21, with a dinner at Reg and Nancy Pierce's. Walt Snickenberger, our mini chairperson has set up an academic session Friday morning at 10 a.m. Then there's a buffet at the Hanover Inn Friday evening, followed by the parade of classes and the usual Dartmouth night festivities. The class meeting will be at 9:30 Saturday morning at Smoyer Lounge. After that a football game at noon against the Big Red from Cornell. Saturday night our getaway dinner at the Inn. The speaker for that is yet to be named but don't worry, it's not yours truly. JohnMcClintock will be sending out all the details. Please try to come. I know it's a bit of a trip for all of us as we get a bit older, but I know you'll enjoy, so come and renew old friendships. Also, we have some business to attend to, like plans for our 55th, so I'd like to have a big turnout. Speaking of football, did you know that the class of 1946 is the only class to have had three football captains in three separate years? The late CarlMcKinnon in 1945; Jud Hannigan in 1947; and, Dale Armstrong in 1948. Someone might browse through the archives and find that one William Odlin was captain of the II in 1886, 1887, 1888, and 1889. And if any of you remember that, well you've got a good memory. I look forward to seeing you in October. I have received notice of the death of our classmate Robert Bogart. We extend our deepest sympathy to his family.
