As we approach the 38th anniversary of our first Winder Carnival, my focus shifts to those fun-loving fellows who entertained their dates in the rooms of Hitchcock Hall. Leading off, we have a couple of classmates who are president and CEO of their respective family businesses. BillBarnet (Spartanburg, S.C.) is at the helm of the family-owned textile processing company, and Max Blumberg (Fisher Island, Fla.) heads Blumberg Industries, a manufacturer of fine art lamps and lighting products. Tom Botsford (Alexandria, Va.) e-mailed me with the news that he is now retired after 34-plus years with the federal government, most recently as a computer scientist with the Defense Information Systems Agency. He now spends his time scuba diving and is learning to fly. Tom raises an interesting question: How many of you have activated the alumni e-mail address that is provided by the College? (See end of this column) It's die only thing you ever got from them for free, and it is very useful since you can forward your e-mail from this address to whatever address you are currently using. The big advantage is that if you change your e-mail provider, all you have to do is notify the College via the homepage (or), and they will forward your messages to the new address. Check it out!

Continuing alphabetically, Bill Brislin (Rutland, Vt.) is a senior systems analyst with Pluess Staufer Industries, and GeorgeBunting has just relocated to Midland, Texas, where he continues to work for Aero Express, a firm that markets surplus airplane parts. Alan Campbell (Auburndale, Mass.) is senior vice president, general counsel, and secretary at Unitrode Corp. When not working, Alan is a trustee of Outward Bound USA and has traveled to Antarctica and the the Galapagos Islands and taken several whitewater rafting trips down rivers in Utah and Colorado. (Alan's Hitchcock roommate, Mike Dancik, passed away in 1982.) Pete Carney (Liverpool, N.Y.) answered my questionnaire and reported that he is managing a sales agency selling plastic and metal parts. He happily reports that all of his four children are educated and self-supporting in the country's two main growth industries—consulting and therapy! However, he also reports that the unsolicited advice that they now give to their parents still does not compare favorably to that which he received from the "sages around the Chi Phi tap." Jerry Dorros, a worldrenowned leader in the field of interventional cardiology and peripheral vascular disease diagnosis, has recently moved to Phoenix, Ariz., to join the staff at the Arizona Heart Institute, where he also serves as the president of the Arizona Heart Institute Foundation.

Tune in next month to learn about the exploits of Brad Evans, Jim Hall, and Hugh Savage. In the meantime, make a hotel reservation in Hanover for the 35th Reunion on October 8-10, book transportation, and tell your unsuspecting partner about all of the wonderful things that make a fall weekend in Hanover "a special treat."
