Scott Palmer passes along the happy news that, after some 13 years as a widower, he was married to Diane Johnson in Severna Park, Md., in December. Diane is a 1962 graduate of Smith College, has a master's degree from Harvard, and has a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland. The couple met through one of Scott's fellow members on the Dartmouth Alumni Council. Congratulations and best wishes!

Kurt Wehbring received the 1998 Research Award for the City Club of Portland, Ore., for his participation in two studies, one on assisted suicide and the other on domestic violence. Kurt says he rode with 2,000 other bicycle riders in Cycle Oregon, a seven-day, 475mile event with the high point being around the rim of Crater Lake. He has also encountered Doug Adams, as the two have served on the executive committee for the Dartmouth Club of Portland.

In a December letter class president Howard Greene thanked James Wright, president of the College, for the College's decision to increase financial aid packages and lessen the debt portion as a valuable tool to attract a good share of the most outstanding candidates for admission. Howard, who owns an educational consulting center with offices in New York City, London, and Wertport, Conn., also commended President Wright for his plan to increase more social activities on campus as an antidote to problems with alcoholism on campus.

Back in October Anne an d HerbSchoenberg had dinner in Coronado, Calif., with Marilyn and Bob Filderman. From that pleasant experience Herb and Anne went on to New York, where they dined with JoAnn and Bob Werbel. In November Herb's business travels took him to Las Vegas for tapings of the TV show Politically Incorrect. Herb says he is looking forward to the 40th.

Howie Munro, who says he is still working as an internist in Riverhead, N.Y., hopes to be at the 40th also. Speaking of the rapidly upcoming 40th (officially Monday, June 14, through Thursday, June 17, 1999), you should have received a mailing of the details of events by now, and I hope you have registered to attend or have let Doug Wise know via return postcard or other means that you will not be able to attend.

Paul Stein says that there is still time to register for the reunion and for a dormitory room. He adds that for a room, return the form sent in February or call the College Reunion Housing Office. Register with the class through Doug by mail at P.O. Box 286, Lyme, NH 03786; by telephone at (603) 795-2888; or by e-mail at . Paul adds that there will be a chance to meet and ask questions of Dartmouth President Jim Wright. There is also an optional early day on Sunday, June 13, reliving the freshman trip at Moosilauke Ravine Lodge. As class newsletter editor Bob Johnson reported in his December 1998-January 1999 edition, for details on bunks in Ravine Lodge or a room at a local motel, telephone JimWooster at (802) 649-5910, or e-mail him at .
