Chippy called me, RegPierce, this morning (February 10, 1999) with the very sad news of the death of his wife, Dolores. He was unable to finish his notes, and I volunteered to do the column for this issue. Dolores had been quite ill for about a year, but this came as a terrible shock to Chip.
We see a lot of Bob Sandoe and his wife, Nancy, who live here in Brook Hollow, downtown Hanover. Since retirement from teaching in the private school arena, both are very deeply involved in The Quest Foundation. Bob is president of Quest International. Bob and Nancy travel widely for Quest, last year to Argentina for a worldwide conference. Also living in Brook Hollow are Romi and Scrib Jelliffe.
Had a call from Walt Snickenberger, who reported a good get-together with JoeDonahue in Lowell, Mass. They attended a Boston Bruins game and caught up on their doings. Joe is planning to buy a place in Arizona where he's been wintering there these past years.
Our Hanover Rotary just announced a special Rotarian record, classmate WhiteyBurnham just completed 50 years of perfect attendance in Rotary! This is some performance. Rotary places high honors on good attendance. Whitey has been a very key member in Rotary service in all offices of duty lending much humor to our meetings. He is our resident "Stand-up Comedian."
We see Ginny and Marty Marino in church here in Hanover often. Marty still traveling as a medical consultant all over United States. Marinos live in Orford, up Route 10 about ten miles. Susan and Ray Dewess are Etna folks. They are in Ireland renewing their long time acquaintances.
Jackie and Bob Kimball are wintering in Tuscon, Ariz. Daughter No. 4 Sandy had the Kimball's eighth grandchild February 4, a baby girl. Family celebrated No. 1 daughter Holly's 50th birthday out there Christmas Day.
Marion and Jack Ulrich escaping our evil Hanover winter in beautiful Del Ray, Fla., for the cold winter. Lucky people.
Just learned of the class's loss of BobDoran on February 1. Our sympathies go out to Tina and their children. Bob was a consistent loyal '46 member.
Chippy will be back next issue with a much fuller column of news. Hanover continues to be a great place to live and work. Look forward to seeing any '46s if you are in town.
