For nearly 150 years, Shattuck Observatory has trained its gaze on the heavens. Built with money donated by George Shattuck (DMS,Class of 1806), the diminutive dome remains Dartmouth's oldest science building. Its current telescope, a 9.2-inch refractor, was purchased in 1872, a year after this photograph was taken.
