Steve Larson is now the United States CEO of Jossco USA Inc., an agricultural commodity trading company specializing in grains, animal and vegetable protein meals, pulses, oilseeds and fertilizers. He will be responsible for managing and expanding the company's cottonseed trading book. Steve has been a long-time grain merchant working originally for General Mills, then Cook Industries and most recently running the Larson Brokerage Co. I have to smile as I write all this serious stuff about Steve since I remember him from back when. He also is the only classmate who knows for sure the where- abouts of Jon Swenson.
I recently received a copy of John Danford's new book, Roots of Freedom. John is a professor of political science at Loyola University. The books origins trace back to a series of articles John wrote for broadcast over Radio Free Europe. These articles were to summarize the thoughts of philosophers such as John Locke and Adam Smith. Airing of the series began in September of 1989. Soon thereafter, the Berlin Wall fell and the Eastern Bloc was no more. Coincidence?
I could lie and say I read the book but those who know me would see right through that charade. I have, however, read parts here and there and am the better for it.
John Crane and I, along with Joe Mehling, are working on the display for The Room in the Berry Library. We hope to have it in place for the May dedication.
Take care and write
