Dr. Robin Robinson died peacefully at his home in Hanover on March 3, just two months short of his 99th birthday. He was holder since 1997 of the Boston Post Cane, awarded to the oldest resident of the Town of Hanover. After earning his A.M. and Ph.D. in mathematics from Harvard, he returned to teach at Dartmouth, later serving as chair of the math department and the division of sciences. He served as the director of Dartmouth's "Great Issues" course, 1954-56, and in 1958 became registrar of the College, a position he held until 1968, concurrently with his professorship. Following a two-year retirement, part of which he and his wife, Ellen, spent traveling around the world, he rejoined the Dartmouth administration as a consultant on enrollment patterns, finally retiring in January 19 81, at the age of 77. He served his class as secretary, Alumni Fund agent, 55th reunion treasurer, newsletter editor and acting class president. Our condolences to his family.
