I have a number of businessrelated items that chronicle the movements up the ladder for several classmates. First, Rick Billings has been named New England/upstate New York regional manager for Turkey Hill Dairy of Conestoga, Pennsylvania. Rick is now responsible for sales and brokerage in these areas. Prior to this move Rick was a partner at M.W. Houck (now SGA Houck), where he was account representative for Turkey Hill.
Jeff Bloomberg is now the chairman of Gordon Brothers Group, the Boston-based retail finance and asset management firm. As such he will-manage their non-traditional business development, including services to retailers who are involved in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, restructuring and complex financings. Jeff was formerly general partner and senior managing director at Bear, Stearns & Co.
Investors Capital Holdings Ltd. has appointed Troy Shaver to its board of directors.Troy is the vice chairman of GoldK Inc., a full service retirement company and a leading provider of online retirement plans. He is also president and CEO of GoldK Investment Services Inc. Over on the medical side, Jonas Johnson has been elected president of the American Academy of Otolaryngology. Jonas is a professor of that specialty (I didn't want to have to spell it again) at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and is vice chairman of the department. He also is the editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Otolaryngology (darn!) and serves on the editorial board of several peer-reviewed related medical publications. Mike Powell wrote and chronicled the last 31 years of his life. In summary, he's happy. His kids are doing well: Jonathan '03 spends his time alternating between classes, tennis and beer pong and Mike and his wife are actively engaged in travel, skiing, tennis and a multitude of other pursuits. Mike is president of Colomer USA and part-owner of the Colomer Group headquartered in Barcelona, Spain (hence the traveling). It is the largest privately owned salon product company in the world. Moving to sports, Terry Light was inducted into the central chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. Terry was a three-sport standout in high school and continued his football and baseball career at Dartmouth. Terry says that although he was pretty good in high school, he couldn't keep up with todays kids. His nomination takes into account not only his sports career but other aspects of his life as well. Nowadays Terry coaches and officiates soccer and has completed more than 40 road races of 5 miles or longer.
Remember that our 35th reunion is coming up in June 2004.
