Talk about a rapid lunch break—Brian Kunz, assistant director of outdoor programs, occasionally spends midday in his kayak on the White River. "I love the power and the beauty of the river," he says. Between April and November, Kunz makes a mad dash for white water several times a week, sometimes even donning a watertight drysuit over his shirt, tie and dress pants. "That allows you a few more minutes in the river," he says. Spoken like a true river rat, as Kunz undoubtedly knows: His duties include overseeing the Ledyard Canoe Club.
