Greetings! Thankfully, the College has contributed a number of items that will add to my slim stash of acquired news. First, the Scarsdale Inquirer ran a feature in their March 7 issue outlining the attributes that village trustee candidate Noreen Quinn Fisher brings to the race. The article pointed out that if she won the election, she would be on a board made up of seven men and one woman. This would put her in a spot not unlike being in Hanover in 1972 in a 4,000/200 situation, and we know how that worked out. Noreen graduated from Wharton, and after spending time on Wall Street, she and husband Rip Fisher found themselves in Scarsdale with their three daughters Catherine (17), Jennifer (15) and Carolyn (13). For the past 15 years or so Noreen has been actively involved in numerous volunteer activities while raising their family.

The College also passed along additional news of George Jepsens pursuit of the Democratic gubernatorial nomination in Connecticut. Sounds like his "machine" is hard at work. Best of luck in your efforts, George.

News was passed along that Kim Nyberg was named by GMAC Mortgage Corp. one of its vice presidents/co-branch manager of its new loan origination branch office in Minneapolis. Kim had most recently been with Northland Financial Cos. in Minneapolis since 1993.

Venture Reporter had a brief interview in its March 2002 issue with Alien Morgan, venture capitalist with Mayfield, based in Menlo Park, California. The article mentioned how Allen was able to combine his law degree and graduate work in government and philosophy at Oxford with his Dartmouth degree to successfully monitor $2.5 billion under management.

I'm looking forward to reading David Schmahmann's new novel, Empire Settings, published by White Pine Press. The novel won the John Gardner Fiction Book Award for 2002, an award given to the most outstanding novel published by a literary or university press for the year. David has a second novel in progress, The IvoryDinghy. David currently lives in Brookline, Massachusetts, and practices law in Boston.

I recently received some help in my class secretary duties from Charlie Brumback, who's living in Orlando, Florida, with his wife, Kim, and children Emily (11) and Charles, III (7). Charlies a shareholder in the Orlando office of Akerman Senterfitt, a statewide law firm with more than 350 attorneys. He does primarily corporate and transactional work and has been with the firm since he graduated from BU Law in 1979. Living in Orlando, he sees a fair amount of traffic from College friends, most recently Dick Strout, a recent retiree from Hannaford Bros., the grocery retailer in Scarborough, Maine, which is a subsidiary of Dellehaize America. Dick and his wife, Linda, live in Portland.

I also received an e-mail from Mark Friedman, our class Webmaster, that he is currently in Tel Aviv, where he says despite what we see on the news, it is much like any other city. He's taking Hebrew lessons and settling in. He didn't say if this was travel or a permanent move, but I'm sure we'll hear more.

At the point I'm writing this (June), North Carolina is suffering through a drought, Colorado has wildfires and New England is suffering through unseasonable cold and rain. Let's hope that things even out and improve. I hope by the time you read this, everyone will have had enjoyable summers and a chance to enjoy families and friends. Best wishes to all and don't forget to pass along some news!
