Greetings!

I hope by the time this reaches all or you spring will be on its way. I've started working with a division of our company that is now doing business in some of the New England states, and after a trip to Bangor, Maine, earlier this month and 3 degrees and 10 inches of snow, I realize how wimpy I've become. More power to y'all that thrive in the northern climes. It's nice to visit, but you can have it.

We have confirmation that Rob Saltzman was appointed to the L.A. Police Commission, the five-member commission that oversees the L.A. Police Department (read more in his ContinuingEd interview, page 112). Congratulations, Rob. I'm sure that between the work on the commission and his work as associate dean of USC's Gould School of Law he's plenty busy.

Fern Bennett Phillips passed along news that after 28 years in the investment industry, Peter Dawkins will be retiring on February 29. Word has it that he's working on a novel. Best of luck to you, Peter. Fern continues with her consulting work that she's been doing in the recent past out of York, Maine. Fern's youngest, Jessie, is a sophomore at UVM playing lacrosse.

David C. Clark has been a better correspondent than most. I can rely on Clarkie for bits and pieces. His most recent shotwas part of a baseball team picture from 1974 or 1975 and included Dave, Gordie Nye, Todd Morris, Dave Dobson, Brian Graf and me alongwith Tony Lupien. Gosh, we looked young. I know Dave and his neighbors are trying to ride out the recent turmoil that they've had from Kirkwood, Missouri, being in the news lately. Hang in there, Clarkie. Gordie, Dobber and Grafter, drop a line and let someone know where you are and what your life is al about.

That goes for the rest of you, too. Take a minute to zip off an e-mail to Lynne Brooks or me. You figure that no one would be interested, but youd be pleasantly surprised. In this age of easy communication there's really no excuse to not take a few minutes and drop a line. Many of us are on the verge of being empty-nesters so, theoretically, there should be some time to spare. For those of you with younger offspring, make sure you enjoy your time with your family because time really does fly.

Finally, I'm sorry to pass along news or the passing of Badrhn M. "Bud" Übushin on December 27. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Thanks to all of you classmates that contributed to the Alumni Fund and helped take advantage of the anonymous gift that someone made to the College. They pledged $100,000 for each 1,000 donations received by the Sunday of this year's Winter Carnival.

Please take a moment to send news of yourself or classmates. It just takes a little time, but it's painless and people really do care about you and are interested in what you've been up to.
