Not one to easily let go of bad habits, I am writing this column an hour before it's due. Fortunately, a great update from Jeff Krolik appeared in my inbox the day after my last deadline. Jeff is the general manager of Fox Sports Net in San Francisco, the regional sports network that carries the games of the local professional sports teams Jeff reports: "Christine and I stay busy chasing around our two boys, John (13) and Billy (10). I stay in touch with a fair number of classmates; saw Kent Pierce and Bill Murphy just last month. Expecting a visit this summer from Carola and Peter Endicott. Jeff Crowe is a neighbor and has taken over the DED job for the region, so we're in touch a lot during interview season. Speak to Kevin Hoffman fairly often, and as he has the world in his Rolodex as class agent, he updates me on a lot of folks. Spoke with Tom Johansen just last week, as he continues to hurl his middle-aged body into a full range of contact sports.

Steve Ceurvorst also responded to my plea for news: "Thought I'd send you some brief news for our class notes after reading about the 'dearth' of info you receive. My only hesitation is that our classmates' lives are so exotic and interesting that everything else sounds a little boring. My wife, Brenda, and I have been living in Pennsylvania for some time and are blessed with four wonderful kids (ages 13 to 7). I was recently made the chairman and CEO of Mellon Financial Markets LLC, the parent's full service broker-dealer. I am also delighted to report that Jim Lattin and wife Marilyn continue to be happy in Palo Alto with their two-children. Jim is a long-time tenured professor at Stanford Business School."

Meanwhile, I just received official confirmation of my new status as Alumni Council representative for the classes of 1977 and 1978.This and our upcoming reunion mean I will be relinquishing my position as class secretary, thereby creating an opportunity for one of you! It is actually tually quite fun. The advent of e-mail has made the job relatively easy and very interesting. I still have four or five more issues to go, so please keep those e-mails coming!
