It s been a long time since I've .had to do it, but you left me no choice. Yes, I resorted to the dreaded cold call. While it didn't work as well as other times, I was at least able to net a couple of classmates without caller ID.
I also was able to hook Barbara (Bobbie) Ewels. Bobbie works for Dupont Merck in Massachusetts. She's married and was putting a child to bed when I called (perfect cold call timing!). While she couldn't chat, she promised me an email with lots of good stuff. Stay tuned for more about Bobbie in the next issue.
In the corporate news section, there were a couple items of note. Elizabeth Doyle was the subject of an Altoona (Pennsylvania) Mirror article. Elizabeth is district justice in Hollidaysburg. She was appointed in 1998 by then-Gov. Tom Ridge and is active fighting "in the trenches" against drug problems. Elected to a full term in 1999, Elizabeth was the first attorney in Blair County to serve as district judge. Prior to becoming district justice, she was an assistant district attorney. She graduated from Northeastern Law School. She and husband Edward Home have two children.
More info from the newswire that Don Castle Jr. was named VP of information management for Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices and Diagnostics in New Brunswick, New Jersey (does all of that fit on one business card?). Don joined Ethicon, a J&J Cos., in 2000 as VP of information management and CIO. Prior to J & J he was 18 years at Nabisco Ltd. Nicely done, Don.
Finally, in the biz world, fearless leader Bill Mitchell recently joined Viewpoint Corp. as chief financial officer. Bags has held several CFO and COO positions at companies such as Max- Worldwide, Tally Systems and Bigfoot Interactive. In his spare time he serves as your class president, which we very much appreciate.
Speaking of which, mini-reunion maestro Phil Odence guarantees a good time at the '79 midi-reunion in Hanover during Homecoming Weekend (October 24-26). Be there.
Don't forget, Marlow, Bags and the rest of your classmates will be waiting to see you at the 25th reunion June 17-20,2004.
That's it. Keep em coming!
