The choice of Baker Tower fronted by sporty Dartmouth students to illustrate Outside's September cover story on the best colleges "for books and backcountry" was "a no brainer," according to the magazines art director. "I wanted a picture to say 'campus' on the newsstand; no explanation necessary," says Rob Haggart about Dartmouth, ranked No. 7.

A casting director, with assistance from the College, recruited the models: Laura Duncan 'O1, Th'02; Andrew Hoffman '05, Kevin Fournier'03 and his fellow Tuck summer student Henry Tibersky, a Yale alum.

Duncan says she'd enjoy a return to modeling despite the heat—of both weather and passersby—experienced during the Outside shoot, but she's now concentrating on a Harvard master's degree in architecture.

Inside theissue, Gabriel Martinez '99, Th'04, is also shown, scaling Rollins Chapel, a preferred venue of climbers.
