We are very pleased to announce that our late classmate, Bob Engelman, received from the College the Andrew J. Scarlett 1910 Award for outstanding class leadership more than 50 years out. What a wonderful tribute to a deserving man.
A note from Collette Claude Cowey advising that her father, Ed Germann, celebrated his 90th birthday last September and, even though age is catching up with him rapidly now, he still lives at home in northern Alabama in a lovely natural setting overlooking the Tennessee River and hills beyond. His wife, Maggie, manages his care. His five children live in Spain, France and the eastern United States. He has 15 grandchildren of three nationalities and nine great-grandchildren. Family reunions are trilingual. Sounds like the Engelmans are having competition! Thanks, Collette, for writing us and, Ed, it's nice to know you have such a fine family—good health to you.
I spoke to Hank Bryan last September about coming to our mini-reunion with Janie DeRiemer, but he told me that Janie had recently passed away and thathe was still on awalker and would be unable to come. We will miss Janie, as she was a lovely lady and we hope Hank will get rid of his walker and attend our next mini in 2003.
Sadly, we announce the death of Bernard Sills and extend to his family our sympathy.
