I hope that everyone saw the following article in the January Alumni Magazine (The Undergraduate Chair), but in case they did not, I am repeating part of it: "Every fall, Professor Emeritus Francis L.Childs lectures to the incoming freshman class on the history of the College. He speaks of three men who shaped three major events in Dartmouth's history—Eleazar Wheelock, who founded the College; Daniel Webster, who refounded it through the Dartmouth College Case; and William Jewett Tucker, who decided that Dartmouth Hall, which was gutted by fire, must be rebuilt as the College prepared for the future..."

Another interesting article in the same magazine is "Total Class Giving to June 30, 1971." There are 77 classes listed and our Class ranks 23rd with a total of $1,569,573.
