For this issue, I decided it would be interesting to hear from some of the alumni we don't run into at weddings and regional alumni events, i.e., those who live overseas. In the barely overseas category, or more precisely "overlake," is James Nadler. He's been a television writer and producer currently working in Toronto. His best-known series are the PSI Factor (starring Dan Akroyd and Michael Moriarty) and The Zack Files. He peppers his sci-fi and paranormal shows with Dartmouth references. In one show, the evil math teacher is Joe Rajkowski and the killer fraternity is Phi Tau. Other shady characters in his productions are Trish Marinelli '85, professor Maurie Rapf and Lisa Liberati '85. He indicated that Secret Society had an unnamable Dartmouth inspiration that had something to do with red bandanas. James and his wife, Patricia, have two children: Oona (9) and Elijah (5).

Actually across a sea is Alex Biumrosen, who lives in France with his wife, Laure, and their two daughters, Charlotte (6) and Victoria (1). After a degree in French studies at NYU, a law degree from Georgetown and a few years on Wall Street, Alex joined his current firm, where he arbitrates international business disputes. He lives in Neuilly and his office is right near the Arc de Triomphe. He gets back to the United States a few times a year, but due to his daughters school schedule, regrets that he won't be able to make the reunion. Alex invites Paris-bound travelers to contact him at ablumrosen@compuserve.com

A little further south, Ann Lindley has spent the last 14 years with her Spanish husband, Carlos, in Madrid. They have two bilingual daughters, Maria (9) and Clara (7), who have no qualms about correcting their mothers Dartmouth- learned Spanish. Following a second back operation, Ann gave up working for Citibank and is now dedicating herself to family, home and back. She also is taking furniture refinishing courses, which she says take her back to her time in the workshops at the Hop.

Dickson Cunningham says he is now almost fluent in the language of his adopted country, a claim of which I am skeptical. He is an assistant professor of geology at University of Leicester in the UK. His research focuses on the process of mountain building in Central Asia, specifically the Altai and Gobi Desert, the Tien Shan Mountains and the Tibetan Plateau, where he will be during the reunion. He lives in a country village and is engaged to an Englishwoman named Annali Ruddock-Brown. They will wed in August, thus foregoing Dickson's rich and fruitful bachelorhood. Having an 800-year-old church across the street from him kept him from even-more-frequent visits to the two pubs that are within a stones throw. Dickson indicates he will probably return to the United States at some point, but in the meantime, he will chug a yak butter tea for us this summer.

Formerly in the UK, but now in Frankfurt with her German husband, Christian, is Resa Labbe Zorn. Until "retiring" last year, Resa was a managing director in the European debt capital markets origination group of JP Morgan. She traded the internationalism of London for a fourhour drive to skiing in Lech, Austria, and a more convenient base of operations for her husband, a client banker with Morgan Stanley. She gets back to the United States occasionally to take care of homes in central New Jersey and New Hampshire, as well as their three Duxiana retail stores in New Jersey.

Gerard Hekker is an associate in the Singapore office of Skadden Arps. He travels the Southeast Asia region on corporate transactions for governments and companies in Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan. He is married to Hsin-Yu and has a daughter, Stella Maria (5). He spends the little free time he has training for the Olympic distance triathlon. And despite the distance, "her spell on them [him] remains."

Cheers, Mark.
