As I hope you all know by now, the Dartmouth football team was undefeated in 1996—the first time since 1970. Wayne Schlobohm's skillful punting clearly helped Dartmouth achieve an undefeated season in '96. Stan Barr '44, whose class sponsored Wayne's recruiting trip to Hanover, sent me a letter noting that Wayne "seems to be an exceptional young man." I agree.

At the Princeton game in November, I ran into several classmates, including BuzzCmaylo, Hal Macartney, and A1 McGowen, in addition to Allen Kraus '73, Doug Peabody '74, Richie Horan '76, Tom Reinhart '76, and Gary Traynor '78. This yielded news of several new babies.

Buzz and Cathy Corman Cmaylo have a new son, Walter Jack (Jack for short), born September 14, 1996. Buzz and Cathy were married in 1993 in Hyannis, Mass., and now live in Madison, N.J. Buzz has been in the computer business since graduation, and now runs a computer company in Hoboken. The Dartmouth Club of New York is a customer. Look for Jack to help Dartmouth achieve more undefeated football seasons starting around 2014.

Annick Cooper and Doug Peabody '74 have a new daughter Olivia, almost a year old. Annick and Doug have been married eight years and have three other children: Alexandra 6, Christina 4, and Nicholas 2. They live on the Upper West Side of NYC. Annick earned an M.B.A. at Columbia, had her own business in Paris running student abroad programs, and then worked at Benetton's in NYC before starting a family. In addition to caring for four children, she is now president of her co-op building, and she volunteers at the Metropolitan Museum leading tours of Old Master paintings. Doug has his own company that publishes new media: Saveur, Garden Design, Quest, and health newsletters that go to doctors and hospitals.

Bob Sullivan published an amazing book in '96—Flight of the Reindeer: TheTrue Story of Santa Clans and His ChristmasMission. Write-ups appeared in DAM, Yankee, and Life magazines. Bob tells me the book has gotten good reviews, and sales are brisk so far with four printings. But wait 'til you hear this. Dave Shribman '76, a Pulitzer Prize-winning writer, chal- lenged the White House to respond to Bob's book in the National Perspective column of the Boston Globe. As a result, on the evening of December 23, Bill Clinton signed the Santa Claus clause restricting all flights in and around the North Pole on Christmas Eve and early Christmas morning, to insure that Santa Claus and various flying reindeer could complete their mission with no interference. We all have Bob to thank for making sure our children got Christmas presents this year.

Caroline Preston wrote to let us know that her first novel, Jackie By Josie, was published this February by Scribner. Caroline is married to the writer Christopher Tilghman, author of In aFathers Place and Mason's Retreat. They live in Harvard, Mass., with their three sons—Matthew 12, Luke 10, and William 4.

Mark Ditmar has been appointed chief of general pediatrics at Norwalk Hospital and assistant clinical professor in the department of pediatrics at the Yale School of Medicine. At Yale Mark will have teaching responsibilities at the Children's Hospital at Yale-New Haven. He is co-author of Pediatric Secrets, a medical textbook. Mark went to Harvard Medical School. He lives in Wilton, Conn., with his wife, Nina, and new daughter Erin, who was born on September 11, 1996, three days before Jack Cmaylo.

In a previous column, a few facts were omitted. Jamie Dammann runs his own wood business in New Hampshire, buying wood for five wood-fired power plants. Steve Sargent has two children, named David and Jocelyn.
