Sorry about missing the May-June column. Lay it to nonagenarian ineptitude.

On the proposed axing of the swimming- diving team, about which we, as a former captain, were grousing in our last, a sort of solution has been cobbled together through the generosity of several concerned former natators. So, swimmers will swim and divers will dive.

On the other matter of concern, we must tell you that our grandson was given the red light instead of the green by admission honchos, so Wah Hoo Wahs here are now muted.

We were next to the oldest alumnus at a Dartmouth pow wow held here recently to boost scholarship fundraising to help pay rising tuition charges. Tom Dublin '32, noted epidemiologist, nosed us out by a year. At our table, Rosemary was enthralled by his conversation.

Miller Wachs, a baritone whom we erroneously called a "tenor" (what a faux pas), has passed on intriguing biographical information. A physics major at Dartmouth, with a later M.S. at M.I.T., he was early attracted by the concept of the helicopter and was able at an early stage to become associated with Igor Sikorsky, the aeronautical genius, who was then putting the finishing touches for the Army on the experimental rotary-wing helicopter. Miller rose to become project engineer of the first helicopter to have a production line and spent 32 years with the Sikorsky company as a chief engineer, dedicated to improving the reliability and marketability of the product. Now retired, he continues his church and club singing, of course, but is currently "dabbling" in writing his autobiography, which he proposes to call My Life With Igor Sikorsky. As one who has published his own memoir, we hope that Miller does far more than dabble, but proceeds full steam with the project.

Deadline for this issue precedes reunion, but we know we may be allowed an advance "Danke Schon" to Bob McDonald and Mary Jo for the colossal work they have done to organize an attractive program for our 70th. Their effort is deeply appreciated.
