One of the "dividends" derived from acting as class secretary is the opportunity to share and articulate upon the many varied accomplishments of our classmates. I must admit I know very little about the majority of these "fields of endeavor." However, I was most excited to learn that Phil Langley has been elected as president of the USTA—the United States Trotting (not Tennis) Association. Being a member of the USTA myself, I can finally "relate!" Phil is the director of racing for both Balmoral Park and Maywood Park, close to Chicago. Besides serving on many boards relative to harness racing and agriculture, Phil was inducted into the Illinois Harness Horseman's Fall of Fame in 1994. To the "uneducated": Thoroughbred racing has the Kentucky Derby; standardbred racing has the Hambletonian. Personally, Phil feels fortunate to have his hobby be his life's workwe should all be so lucky! Married for 43 years, Phil has three children and three grandchildren. A daughter and three grandchildren live in Saudi Arabia. Phil was excited about this year's U.S. Open golf tournament being held at his home country club—Olympia Fields. An aside: If you want to see a great picture of Phil, get the May issue of Hoof Beats magazine!

As I was impressed by many of our careers, I now am amazed at some "fun" part-time jobs taken after retirement. A note from Dave Porter says he is working with the Colorado Rockies baseball team, selling tickets—he wishes he had learned more Spanish! I relate again, as we rented a house in Tucson that Larry Walker (star of the Rockies) rented during spring training! Dave recently spent two and one half months in Hawaii with his family, including 10 grandchildren.

Larry Purcell reports on a visit to old college roommate, Dave Reber. Dave, living in Tennessee, was recovering nicely from triple-bypass surgery. Ten years earlier Dave had a quadruple bypass! Larry is living in Bluffton, Indiana.

The University of Miami Law Review dedicated its annual spring symposium to the scholarship of Owen Fiss, the Sterling Professor of Law at the Yale Law School. Following Dartmouth Owen earned a bachelor of philosophy at Oxford, and an LL.B. from Harvard. He has also served as a law clerk to Judge Thurgood Marshall and Justice William Brennan. Owen is the recipient of numerous awards for his accomplishments and contributions to the academic community, and is revered by generations of law students as a great teacher and mentor.

Alan Ziegler and partner were finalists in both the Canadian and U.S. doubles squash championships. They lost both matches, in overtime, marking their eighth loss in a national or world championship final in the last six years! Not bad for a "old-timers."

Longtime Syracuse lacrosse fan Al Wertheimer saw Dartmouth nearly upset Syracuse in the first round NCAA tournament—Syracuse has ap- peared in 20 straight NCAA "final fours."
