As this is an issue devoted to athletics, it would be remiss of me not to mention seeing one of our most well-known athletes from Back in the Day,
Jesse Bradley Jesse, of course, still holds goal-keeping records in men's soccer, and by coincidence I saw him when I was with the current men's team down in Dallas for the NCAA Tournament. The current team could have used him, too, as the Big Green fell to Southern Methodist, 2-0.
In any case, Jesse was nearing the end of another term at Dallas Theological Seminary. Speaking of one soccer player reminds me to let people know that another former booter, Tommy Clark, is back here in Hanover at the Medical School.
Got an e-mail recently from JenSandoval, who finishing up her M.A. in history and education at Columbia while teaching at the Spence School and working part-time for the Americal Social History Project. You may think it sounds boring, Jen, but I beg to differ!
Speaking of un-boring, Jen also reported on die whereabouts of Lillian Guerra, who is completing a Ph.D. in Latin American history at the University of Wisconsin in lovely Madison. Last year Lillian was doing research in Cuba and is now working on her dissertation. And in June be sure to check your local bookstore for her new book-Popular Expression and National Identity inPuerto Rico: Struggle for Self, Community, andNation.
Over the holidays I saw one of Jen's Dartmouth roomies, Melissa Rich, in Hanover. Melissa continues to work toward her business degree and reported on a few other Whartonites: Julia Hynes, TishaJackson, and John Ohe.
On a December trip with women's basketball I got to spend time in Detroit with several classmates, including a pair you may remember from the last notes, kristen Morrow and Brad Johnson. However, also had a wonderful time with Paru Mital, who passed the Michigan bar and is working in real estate near his home in the Detroit area; and Eric Vratimos, who as you read this is likely off on another wild adventure for Mercer Management.
Finally, what would a segment of notes be without yet more familial things! Steve Hahn and Maureen McGrath have gotten married, moved to the 'burbs of Chicago, gotten the dog AND had the baby boy (Brendan Joseph Hahn ). All while still attending Kellogg, where Maureen reported recently seeing Dave Miller and ScottGardner. As she said, "I know there are a ton of other Dartmouth folk here, I'm just waiting to run into them."
