" Rainy weather couldn't dampen the spirits of our '83 brethren." Strike that. "Sunny smiles of our class mates brightened out the gray skies." Strike that also. Honestly, cramming inside Leverone Fieldhouse for picnics and barbecues was not what anyone envisioned for reunion weekend. But clear blue sky and sunshine on Sunday finally matched the feeling of fellowship, fraternity and fun. Just a sampling:

John "Ole" Olejniczak surprised everyone and probably disappointed a few bachelorettes by showing up with a wife (Alexis) and daughter (9-month-old Taylor) this time. Ole and family live in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he works as general manager at Manheim's Auto Action. Another long-time handsome bachelor turned newlywed (relatively speaking), Jimmy Ventre hailed from Andover, Massachusetts, with news of a wife, daughter and a "Jimmy Junior!" Mark Hausman and wife Rebecca brought their four kids—Hannah (11), Nate (9), Benjamin (8) and Jacob (6)-all the way from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where Mark specializes in advanced laproscopic surgery and Rebecca, a pediatrician, currently specializes in the aforementioned clients. Jimmy Lynn left his four children at home for a romantic getaway with wife Jane; he recently decided to fly solo and runs a flourishing law practice in New York City, specializing in intellectual property and corporate matters. Nadia Dombrowski accessorized with two matching redheads, daughters Alina (8) and Pascale (5 1/2, to be accurate). After practicing corporate law at the former Rogers and Well and at GE Capital, followed by three years at home with her girls, Nadia recently accepted a new and exciting challenge, serving as general counsel for Global Realty Outsourcing in Stamford, Connecticut, which provides offshore outsourcing in Channai, India, for large financial institutions. Sandy Johnson and My Nguyen just accepted offers to join Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center this September. Sandy leaves her position as director of glaucoma and clinical associate professor of ophthalmology at UNC, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, to be on the teaching staff at Dartmouth Medical School as well continuing her clinical practice at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Clinic and hospital, covering glaucoma and comprehensive ophthalmology. Location being everything in real estate, she immediately timed the walk from her new house to the crullers at Lou's—seven minutes flat. My will specialize in family medicine at the DHMC's Nashua clinic. For anyone who wonders if My has changed, in the wee morning hours he was directing people away from the class tent, shouting "party's now at Phi Delt!" I regressed 20 years for a few minutes at that sight. Lan Weiner, cute and sweet as ever, swears he is just a regular lawyer living in Los Angeles and is not secretly writing a screenplay. Although he came sans wife and daughter, he carried their pictures and they are both adorable. Informally voted "Least Changed Since College" and actually even prettier, Shelly Drake Hawks brought her husband and sons, all dressed in appropriate rain gear. Shelly recently received her (doctorate in modern Chinese history at Brown University, and this Septemberwill begin a postdoctoral fellowship at the Fairbanks Center at Harvard University. Her book, Painting byCandlelight During the Cultural Revolution, focuses on the experience of blacklisted painters during the 1960s and early 19705. In the category of "Wow He Looks Great," the new aerodynamic and snappily dressed Bobby "Deli" Dell Isola caroused from tent to tent, carrying his own wine bottle and glasses and serving as a mobile bartender.

Interesting to note the perspective of a complete outsider. My husband, born and raised in California and not familiar with any rah-rah Eastern schools, whispered nervously to me on Friday, "This is a cult!" By Sunday he wanted to stay an extra day and enjoy the campus in the sunshine. Maybe the brainwashing got to him.
