Twenty years. Wow. And how many of faces were you able to name without peeking? You know, on the solicitation from the reunion giving committee? I'll confess—six correct, two wrong and the others...well, I'm afraid that at reunion I'll just have to wear a nametag identifying me as Iris. I'll just wander the campus, glassy-eyed, trying to remember the names of profs, buildings, classmates.Thank goodness the news I get on all you folks comes well labeled!
Live from New York: Liz Neisloss. A producer for CNN, you can catch Liz on Saturdays, Onthe Story, 10a.m. to 11a.m. (Or hanging out on the West Side with hubby Dave Grubman and mini-Daves I and II!)
Live from L.A., Libby Schmeltzer: "It's been another year of writing and sound editing and children wrangling. Early in the year I signed on to write Baby Looney Toons with aband of old friends and had an absolute blast! My next major project this year, The Kids 10 Commandments, is being released direct to video. Lucky me, I pulled the short straw—subjects of 'stealing' and adultery' —the easy ones. My section featured Lou Diamond Phillips and Jodi Benson. On the sound editing front, Rick and I worked together on several shows, garnering a Golden Reel nomination for He-Man Masters of the Universe and an Emmy nomination for Clifford the Big Red Dog. (Keep your fingers crossed for us!) The comic part was that concurrent with Clifford, Rick was editing The Sopranos and it was often confusing whether the crashes from our offices were Big Red footsteps or a body in a dumpster! The children continue to thrive—Will is well on his way to becoming a champion tennis player and Lizzie continues to take on the world with verve and looks forward to pounding margaritas at reunion—kids' tent beware!"
To wind things up, proud dad, Richard S. Davidoff '54, sends news of our classmate Andy Davidoff, who devotes himself to saving lives these days. Now a board-certified pediatric surgeon at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy has chosen Andy Davidoff as one of "three extraordinary young scientists" to be awarded a $500,000 grant. Andy is researching the development of anti-angiogenic gene therapy for the treatment of patients with neuroblastoma, a deadly form of childhood cancer. Congratulations, and thank you, Andy.
Well, I'm not sure exactly when this issue will hit the stands, but I'd like to wish all who make it to Hanover for June 13-15 a wonderful time! KJ and I will be handing the reins over to the latest addition as class secretary, Lynn. She'll keep you up on all the goings-on for the next five years! Enjoy.
