Like it or not, clients turn up in the most unsuspected places. Several years ago I represented a young musician who had gotten himself in some not-so-serious trouble by joining the Get-You-In-Trouble-Club (as my grandfather, Patsy Donovan, used to call it) down in the islands. I remember the case well because it was nip and tuck as to whether or not my client would receive probation. But I argued well and we prevailed, much to the chagrin of the probation officer who felt musicians did not have real jobs and should spend some time behind bars on principal.

Months later I was with my academic colleagues in the municipal auditorium where we were watching a nationally recognized blues singer. Who was the back up guitarist, but my client, Tony Rose. He waved from the stage, and my colleagues looked perplexed. I left them guessing.

Ray Malecki reports that he is presently doing consulting in analysis, design, and coding of on-line systems in the IBM main-frame environment. His specialty is data base technology. In his off time, Ray spends vacations biking and did a solo bike trip from N.Y.C. to Hanover one week before Homecoming. Invigorated by his feat, he added one more 100mile leg to Burlington before returning home on Amtrak.

Gretchen Teichgraeher '75 and BichardWinkler recently worked together on a Sports Illustrated for Kids Saturday Sports Special, a half-hour show for NBC. Gretchen is the general manager of the successful Sports Illustrated for Kids part of the Time Inc. Magazine Company and Richard is an Executive Producer at Broadcast Arts in New York, an animation and special effects film company. The company has produced TV commercials and Pee Wee's Playhouse. Richard was quoted as saying of an S.I. for Kids cartoon character, "Buzz was fun to animate, and it's always exciting to bring a still cartoon character to full animation; it feels like one is reinventing life." We'll be watching for Buzz's interview of Joe Montana.

Back on the home front, Jack Martin has recently been signed to serve as Robert Redford's stunt man in his movie, "The Snows Flow Faster," being filmed in Bismarck, N.D. Redford is starring in and producing this film and needed a stand-in for the treacherous scenes on horseback. Jack, a skilled horseman and former finalist in a nationwide bucking bronco contest, is thrilled. Jack commented, "I have the looks of Robert Redford, the finesse, the romance, and I can ride a horse better than he can." See you in the movies, Jack.
