I just returned from the wonderful little city of Annapolis, where I attended Carolyn Abruzzo's beautiful wedding. Carolyn, who works as a teacher at The Severn School, married Kevin Campion, a landscape architect and a pretty darn good dancer. After weeks of rain, the skies cleared for the wedding and reception, which captured the happy couples shared sense of adventure and adoration for each other. The bride and groom, who both looked amazing, will continue to live in Annapolis after returning from their honeymoon in Hawaii.
Other '97s in attendance were Kerri Apblett, Mollie Greves, Kristin Canavan, Jill McCammon and Maura Troy. Kerri is engaged to Jonathan Kerr, whom she met when he worked at the Kennedy Center, where Kerri still works. Mollie took the red eye from Seattle, where she has recently begun a residency program in pediatrics. Kristin graduated from Stanford Business School this past spring, and returned to Mercer Management Consul ting. Jill recently enrolled in NYU's food studies and food management program, and continues to work for IBM (which bought her old company, PWC Consulting). She and fiancee Jeff McMahon will be married in August in New Orleans. And Maura was recently engaged to Coleman Bigelow, a UVA grad who is returning to his alma mater to begin business school this fall.
I've had lots of other '97 encounters this spring. In the middle of a rainy Saturday, I was standing on a subway platform at Union Square when I ran into Irvin Tu, and a friend of his who was carrying a very large box of Magnolia Cupcakes. I think they made the trip from the Upper East Side all the way down to Greenwich Village just for the cupcakes. They are really good cupcakes! Anyway, Irvin is in New York for the summer working for Goldman Sachs. In the fall he'll return to the Sloan School of Management at MIT.
I recently got some happy news from Drew Spencer. His wife, Estelle, gave birth to Malakai David Spencer on April 21. He said both mother and son are doing very well. If you want to check out some of the cutest baby pictures I've seen, go to www.lifesabink.com/baby. Drew wrote that Kenny Mitchell, who is attending Tuck, and his new wife, Heather, were among the first well-wishers. They sent a Dartmouth T-shirt, size 3-6 months, to little Malakai. Drew said he also heard from Keith Stanton, who is living and working in Philadelphia. Drew said he's trying to get in touch with Sea Lonergan. So Sea, if you read this, Drew's e-mail is drew@tsakemo.com.
Another recent '97 dad is Jon Aljancic. He and his wife, Courtny, had a little boy on March 7 named Ryan Matthew.
We have a little extra space in this months column, where your announcements could have been. Hope to hear from you soon!
