In contrast to last spring, we now have great quantities of news on the whereabouts and doings of members of the Class of 1964. Welcome back to our monthly abstract of the social columns of the cities and towns in which the fellow members of the Class find themselves.
The social hit of the season is shaping up for the Cornell game, Nov. 13. Throughout that day only interrupted by the game, members of the Class will reune (Webster's: "to partake of a reunion"). The main attraction of the day will be a free 'tails party after the game. Gene Veto will have full news of the plans for the weekend in his forthcoming Newsletter. . , ,
Dave Goldstein, formerly employed by the Prudential Insurance Co. in his native New York City, has recently entered the management intern program of the Defense Supply Agency Headquarters, Alexandria, Va. Dave's new employer buys and manages supplies used by the Armed Forces and performs common services for the Department of Defense. He'll be in the classroom and at on-the-job training for a year before assignment to a management position.
This summer was spent by the men of '64 in many different ways, one of the most popular (?) was getting married. Perhaps one of the most interesting was that of DanDimancescu, Ed Fowler, and several other Dartmouth men. They were members of the group that paddled 1550 miles down the Danube last summer and this summer brought eight students from Eastern Europe to the United States for a three-week canoe trip down the Hudson River, followed by three weeks of sightseeing. The group stopped at historic sites along the way: Fort Ticonderoga, Saratoga, West Point, Tarrytown, and Manhattan. They spent the time sightseeing in New York and Washington.
A vast array of '64's participated in the June parade into matrimony. John Christianson, fresh from his recent column debut, married the former Miss Karen Russell. They were married in Peterborough, N. H., ushers included Taylor Washburn and BobBartles. They are now living in Sachem Village while John goes on for his Master s degree in engineering. Another June wedding took place in Cranford, N. J. There BillDubocq III married the former Miss Holly Milius. Ben Koehler and Bob Mac Arthur
Michael Cebrik married Miss Priscilla Ann Hopkins in Newton. Mass., at the beginning of the summer. They are now living in Norwich, Vt., while Mike is attending Dartmouth Med. Paul Soloman was married to Miss Marion Peller of Newark, N. J. The bride is a graduate of Skidmore. They will live in Seattle, Wash., where Paul works as a financial analyst for the Boeing Aircraft Company. Don Mutterperl married Miss Nancy Summergrade in New York on June 24. The couple honeymooned in Europe for the summer, which I imagine was tough to take. Don is now at Columbia Business School.
Keith Dupree was married to Miss Marianne Madsen in Danbury, Conn. They are living in Providence, R. I., where Keith is studying mathematics at Brown University. Miss Susan Coflan became the bride of Richard Luca here in Hanover. I wish I had something else to say other than weddings, to liven up the pace. The first couple of columns this year will describe briefly the many marriages that took place over the summer. After that I hope we can publish more recent and personal accounts of the activities of the members of the Class of 1964. But to do that we'll need letters from the Class who are doing something interesting or know of people who are. We'd like to hear from the men who are in the services (commenting on how to avoid it). Men who are beginning their careers, traveling, or just getting together or planning to with fellow members of the Class.
The next item has the headline "Martha Hoglund, dress designer, becomes bride." Pete Ulanowsky was the lucky man. The wedding was in Greenwich, Conn. The bride is from Sweden and in fact turns out to be a dress designer. Pete has accepted a position as Director of Music at the East Side House in New York City. Fred Meils was married to Miss Mary Ann Billera in Westport, Conn. They will live in Chicago where he is with Armour Pharmaceutical Co.
Miss Joan Keeler became the bride of Jim Pfau in Hingham, Mass., June 26. DonHight and Jim Cornehlsen were among the ushers. The couple will make their home in Cambridge.
Remember the Reunion, Cornell weekend, our first and probably our last with free booze. Tell or write either Gene or me so we can order enough liquor and arrange rooms if you need them.
