A release from the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston announced an exhibition, "The Makers Hand: American Studio Furniture, 1940-1990," which highlighted more than 50 "extraordinary objects by renowned North American furniture makers," including our own Art Carpenter. Art's work represents the mood of the Sixties, the museum said, and was based on five criteria: function, durability, simplicity, sensuality and practicality of construction. On view in the show was his roll-top desk(1970), which the museum called "a particularly strong example of the criteria from which he worked." Congrats, Art.

Charles Weinberg was honored recently by 350 people in Westchester County, New York, for his 22 years of work as co-founder and chairman of'Westhab, which was designed to address the extreme shortage of affordable housing in the area. Charles is a real estate professional and civ- il engineer, by way of Thayer. Hewill be stepping down from his leadership position, but remains on the board. Westhab has grown to 800 housing units, including 320 in four homeless shelters. The agency also provides social services, academic and recreation programs for youth, child care, transportation, employment and training programs. Charles is also on the boards of a number of other community organizations.

Joanna and Leo Caproni celebrated their 155 th birthday in Barbados last Thanksgiving (representing Joanna's 70th and Leo's 85 th) at the Coral Reef Club, which Leo calls one of the finest resort hotels anywhere. In October they had dinner on Cape Cod with Barbara and Ted Arico and Joan and Jake Davis.

Joyce and Ed Finn are enjoying retirement. They spend four months away from Florida and last year went to New York mid-July to October, with two trips of 11 or 12 days each away from the city. In September they will spend five days each in London, Venice and Berlin. Not bad living.

Since our mini-reunion in October of last year, several classmates have died, and while these are reported elsewhere in the magazine, the class sends its sympathies to the wives and other family members of the following: Bill Mitchel, Harry Hanna, Bob Hickey, Bob Searles and Ralph Farnum.
