It has officially happened (at least, for the first time to my knowledge). Every now and then, news comes along that makes me realize lam not getting any younger—as if I needed that, considering I recently turned (gulp) 35, which puts me closer to 40 than to 30.
But here it is folks; as far as I know, we have our first major CEO type. Doug Jamison was named chief operating officer and chief financial officer of Harris & Harris Group in New York City in January. The release that was sent to me listed all of Doug's accomplishments, and boy did it make me feel insignificant. So thanks, Doug.. .and congratulations!
Another sign that the '92s just might be the coolest of them all: I am sure many of you joined me in watching the final season of Sex and the City (hey, I'm man enough to admit I watch it. That Kim Cattrall...rowr!). Well, if you happened to no- tice the way-cool earrings that Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) wore during the season, you were seeing the work of Nicole Landaw! This comes on the heels of Nicole's bracelet being in the Meg Ryan movie In the Cut, so Nicole is hot, hot, HOT! That is awesome news, Nicole. You guys can checkout Nicole's work at www.nicolelandaw.com.
One of our other famous classmates—Aisha Tyler—has checked out of Friends (we all knew she was too good for Ross and Joey, anyway). But she is still plenty busy, doing everything from ap- pearing in songs (the Twista/Kanye West R&B hit "Slowjamz") to working on a sitcom for CBS that will be produced by Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe on Friends). She got mention in Maxim's Hot 100 list and Esquire's "Women We Love" sections earlier this year. And she even has a book out: Swerve:Reckless Observations of a Postmodern Girl.
Falling into the "first comes love, then comes marriage..." category is Julie Kim, who shared nuptials with Matt Armstrong last October. The happy couple is in Santa Monica these days. On to the third step, "baby carriage": Becca Sullivan Voelker and her husband, Stefan, welcomed their daughter Anke into the world on New Years Eve. In fact, as Becca said, "Anke came so quickly she was actually delivered by the hospitals 'Dr. Stork!' " The family is living these days in Niskayuna, New York, and she welcomes anyone to drop a line.
I heard from two of my favorite women— soccer managers Jill Goldberg Arnold and Lynne Schiffman Delise—within days of each other. Jill, her husband, Moore, and their two boys recent- ly moved just outside of Philadelphia, and she had her first popular press publication in Janu- ary with Raising a Moody Child: How to Cope withDepression and Bipolar Disorder. She is in private practice as a child psychologist in Bryn Mawr. Lynne, on the other hand, remains in Massa- chusetts with her husband, Robert Delise, and their boy, Will. She is doing some educational consulting work and freelancing in a number of academic endeavors, while Robert is a principal at a management consulting firm.
Lynne also passed on some information that I feel compelled to let everyone know about regarding a memorial service to celebrate the life of our recently deceased classmate, John-Patrick Bagnal. It will take place Saturday, May 22, at Rollins Chapel on campus. If you would like more information feel free to contact Lynne at lynne.delise@alum.datmouth.org.
