Only a few pieces of news to report this time around; I write this as the calendar turns to 2004. Feel free to let me know where you are and what you are doing this year—even if it is the same-old, same-old!
First of all, wanted to congratulate Libby Peruchini on her nuptials to Bill Graham (not the reverend) over the Thanksgiving Day weekend in November! Ah, Libby...one of my favorite people, a woman who was willing to hang out with me, eat Chinese and watch the Thursday shows on NBC. Good times. The newlyweds also moved, from the city to the northern 'burbs here in Chicago.
Got a note from Kevin Kruse between Christmas and the New Year. He and wife Roz (Fahey) had recently returned from Buenos Aires, where they attended the wedding of Andrew Tahta to Valeria Ortiz. Among the '92s in attendance: Yoo Jin Kim, Ben Schuler, Liza Millet, Bryant Lee, Kenta Takamori, Sue Joe Shin, Dave Knoll and Matt LeBlanc. Speaking of roaming the girdled earth; Kenta found his way to the wedding from Tokyo, while Sue Joe came in from Korea! As Kevin wrote: "After several days of acclimating to the Buenos Aires nightlife, the Dartmouth contingent was well-represented at the dawn finale of the typically high-spirited Argentine wedding reception." It is nice to know that some of us still got it!
Got a small article that was published in the November issue of National Jeweler magazine about Nicole Landaw. It seems Nicole created a prop that played into the plot of the Meg Ryan thriller In The Cut (I have not yet seen it). Those of you who did see it may recall a gold baby carriage charm that opened to reveal a miniature, removable "baby," hand-carved in gold. Apparently it played a key role in the movie. Yeah, that was Nicole's doing! Pretty cool, eh?
Finally, you may recall the cover story in this magazine in the last issue about Big Greeners in Iraq, Chris Prior was among them—he was deployed with the 115th Field Hospital from January to June 2003 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as the chief of medicine. He is back in the States now, doing a fellowship in sports medicine at Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. Welcome back, Chris!
