Philadelphia
The annual business meeting and dinner was held at the Racquet Club in Philadelphia on February 25. The following officers were elected to serve for She year 1954: President, Joseph C. Mansfield '44; Vice President, E. Smedley Ward Jr. '43; Secretary, William C.Miller '46; Treasurer, Edmund R. Byrhit '47. Robert B. Binswinger '52 was elected as chairman of the enrollment committee for this area. We wish the best of success to this on-coming group and solicit the aid of all local alumni in making their job an easy one.
The business meeting was followed by a tasty dinner and excellent talks by Dean Joseph McDonald and Sumner Kilmarx '22, chairman of the Dartmouth College Athletic Council; 112 alumni heard Dean McDonald enlighten us on the more recent events at Dartmouth as well as highlights of some of his personal experiences as Dean. We were also furnished a brief outline of recent sports accomplishments and overall picture of the Dartmouth athletic program for the future by Mr. Kilmarx.
We were pleased to meet John V. Myers '23 at this meeting. John has recently purchased the Orford Inn in Orford, N. H., and is scheduling a grand opening for May 1. He will be open all year 'round, so I hope all alumni will stop in for a delicious meal when in that vicinity.
On behalf of the alumni of this area and Dartmouth College, I wish to thank our outgoing officers for the grand job they have done. Victor C. Smith '17, James K. Tindle '36, Arthur B. Jopson Jr. '45, and John C.Heston '28 have done terrific work during the past two years.
Don't forget the Dartmouth Glee Club Concert to be held at the Lower Merion High School on Friday night, April 9! Admission price is $2, while there is a special student ticket price of $1.
