Welcome to spring! There's plenty of '01 excitement to report from the past months. The most unbelievable news was from Tom Avery, who, on national television (yes, you did recognize that Cord) won a $10,000 prize package on the On-Air with Ryan Seacrest show in L.A. in February.

Earlier that month, the '01 Ski Team, including Francesca Anderson, Jeannie Eisberg, Kristin Luckenbill and Gusty Swift, reunited for Winter Carnival, with singer/cellist Lindsay Maclndoe providing musical entertainment down at Ledyard Canoe Club. In a less wintry spot, Jeremy Ware and Danielle Davey were joined in Durham, North Carolina, by Katie Anderson '02, Tara Wharton Megill '02 and Matt Megill '00 for a winter weekend of prayer. In yet another Dartmouth gathering, Angela Russo, Kate Mattern, Jennie Lee, Jordana Phillips and Courtney Smalley were in attendance at Meredith Rubins stellar performance in Penn Law Schools annual show in February.

Former members of the lightweight crew Erik Wright, John Nichols, Ben Cotting, Tam Boyar, Tom Stephens, Brendan Antiochos, Martin Kerestes, Puck Wheaton, Mark Uranga, Jake Kissel, Pablo Stern and Barret Bijur (Trinity '01, transfer in winter/spring 2000) reunited for their annual ski trip in Whistler, British Columbia, over President's Day week.

In the working world, Sherryta Freeman has been promoted to assistant athletic director for compliance in the Dartmouth athletic department. Having failed to win the Olympic trials in sailing, Erin Maxwell is now investment banking at Greenwich Capital Markets in Greenwich, Connecticut. Erica Schwartz is happily ensconced in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, surrounded by Dartmouth grads in the neighborhood, working for Ronnette Riley Architects at the top of the Empire State Building. Music producer Kai Ying has released an original dance album on Yoshitoshi Records with his partner, Chris, and Nicholas Kovner is off to work at Kaye Scholler LLP in N.Y.C., following his graduation from Penn Law School.

On the other side of the Atlantic, Alex Schindelar has left London for Cairo to work on his Arabic and "teach/be a journalist/work for an NGO." James Macintosh (working for Monitor Group) and Megan Anderson (interviewing for jobs when this was written in March) have moved to Amsterdam, where they're living in a beautiful canal house in the heart of the old town. Karyn Brudnicki and Matt Boyle did a whirlwind tour of India in January, including a stop in Bombay to visit Malini Mukhopadhyay and his family in their home city. Elena Ghanotakis is in Cape Town, South Africa, working for the NGO Treatment Action Campaign until the fall. Maribel Florez is spending a second year in Japan, teaching high school English and dance and learning Taiko drumming. Charles Kim is in Seoul, Korea, working for Samsung Electronics.

And now onto nuptial news! My favorite. Jennie Flight was engaged to Derek Sjostrom (earth science Ph.D. '02) in December. They are heading this summer to Alaska, where Jennie will start work as a petroleum geologist in Anchor- age. Denise McBeth is engaged to Dustin Marshall (UPenn '00) and they are looking forward to a summer wedding in 2005. And Erica Frankenberg and Mark Kissling '02 are getting married in Hanover this June!

Congratulations to Rachel Milstein and Joe Sondheimer on their March 7 wedding in Mia- mi. An abundance of'ols were in attendance and happy to escape the Northeast for a weekend! Dave Latham was married to high school sweetheart Rachele Ghigliazza on January 3; Ryan Bouton was the best man, and Jennifer Conrad Bouton '02, Basil Kim and Owen Fletcher '00 were also in attendance.

The most exotic wedding locale award goes to Lubna Ammar and her now-husband, Shayan Habib. They were married in December in the gardens of the luxurious Mena House Oberoi Hotel against a backdrop of the Pyramids of Giza lit up at night. Once again, plenty of Dartmouth alums were there to share in the celebration.

Enjoy the summer months!
