Lots this month! Alexandra Pool started the New Year off right, celebrating in Aspen, Colorado, with Lindsay Reardon, Jon Cedar, Jon denHartog, Emily Wroe, Jon Larner-Lewis, Kat Anderson, Bill Carty, Evan Skow, Cena Maxfield, Miguel Licona, Cory Donovan and Jon Shea. Currently Andra is in Washington, D.C., interning with the Center for International Environmental Law and will be off to the U.S. embassy in Amman, Jordan, this summer to work with the State Department.
Also quick to enjoy 2004 was Sarah Murray.
"Justin White, Hannah Volfson, Josh Fougere, Steve Sliva '02 and I flew out to Lake Tahoe this January and spent four amazing days skiing in Nevada and California. The very first day on the slopes, we actually ran into Richie Jay Nussbaum, on vacation from grad school at Berkeley. We're happy to report we also took home some winnings from Bill's Casino in State Line, Nevada (home of the $3 blackjack tables)."
Katie Martin wrote, "Jeff Hluchyj and I have moved into a new place together, just off Sunset Boulevard. I'm working as a sixth-grade ESL teacher and Jeff in the international department at Creative Artists Agency in Beverly Hills. Our apartment is located between the Purple Panther Tattoo Parlor and the Seven Veils Gentleman's Club. Living 'in sin' is a lot of fun: when we're not working at our busy jobs, we spend lots of time at domestic places like Ikea and Crate & Barrel buying cheese graters and Scandinavian furniture."
From the "cultural center of the universe," a.k.a. Stillwater, Oklahoma, Matt Jungers called to say that after spending some time in the wilderness of New Hampshire, he headed back home and is "now working for the pharmaceu- tical giant Eli Lilly, selling the newest and best erectile dysfunction drug." Matt has gotten off to a fast start with the company—he is No. lin sales for the southeast region and has been wined and dined by the CEO. Yet all of life is not as good. Apparently all the women his age are "married, engaged, divorced or pregnant." Although "creatively stifled," he still hopes to write a screenplay or learn to fly.
I was informed by Ashley Nowygrod that Jess Goldberg is also joining the Peace Corps and will be heading to Budapest, and that Natalie Os- trander is in Pensacola, Florida, for officer train- ing school with the Navy. When pressed for information about herself, Ashley broke down and admitted she went to Mardi Gras! Turns out that Syretta Martin was also partying in New Orleans with Harry Johnson Jr., Deanne Battle and Chanel Frazier. Normally Syretta can be found at her desk at Weil Gotshal & Manges in New York. Gail Sweeney dropped a line to say she is still in Hanover, getting her B.E. at Thayer and will be there next year as well as an M.E.M. candidate. During spring break she is off to Shanghai, China, to visit a friend she made in the Bridge to Business program last summer at Tuck. Back in December Ethan Levine had the privilege of speaking to the Beth Emeth Congregation of Sun City West, Arizona, about his experience restoring Jewish cemeteries in Belarus with fellow Dartmouth students.
I made it back to Dartmouth for Winter Carnival and had an absolute blast. Some other '03s who were there for the fun were Megan Lewis, Colin McGlynn, Anna Serotta, Amanda Plagge, Evan Konwiser, Alan Washington, Adrian Hartline, Meredith Esser, Andrey Vakhovskiy, Andy Ralph, Pamela Pic-cola-Fales, Sara Baron, Rachel Wolfe, Hilary Alvarez, Inger Hanson and Vijay Kairam.
