Because no one in the class knew the dates for two recent memorial services, Harry Hampton volunteered to set up a more formal phone tree to pass around information on the recent deaths of classmates. If anyone knows of a death, particularly in the Northeast, they should notify Joe Michael, (603) 868-2263; Don Cole, (207) 799-5016; Craig Cain, (603) 6430-171; Frank Aldrich, (508) 785-1238; or Harry Hampton, (203) 488-1177. Those five will try to have a list, including Rosalie Cutter and Paul Caravatt, that they will immediately notify. In this connection it would be appreciated if interested classmates made sure they are on the list to be called by notifying one of the five above. This idea is being applied initially to the Northeast, where people are closer. Those who feel they are left out by this narrow thinking should speak up to be included. Crawford "Bud" Elder will continue to get obits into the Alumni Magazine as quickly as the authenticated information is available from Alumni Records Office.

On a different subject, Joe Michael is to be congratulated for having negotiated a revised agreement with the College concerning the use of the money in the Class of 1945 Endowment Fund. The class now has the right to designate principal and interest to "support additional programs and other purposes." With this extra freedom we should think of productive ideas that will still be acceptable to the College. This project will be discussed at forthcoming executive committee and class meetings. Joe has put much time and effort on this project and we should thank him with creative suggestions. I recently heard a qualified representative of the College administration state there was no effort or plan to get rid of the fraternities. The College is even making low-interest loans to some houses for needed structural improvements to assist their financial stability. They need all the on-campus beds they can find. This speaks to a misunderstanding with which we have all dealt.

The mini-reunion is September 24-25 with UNH football.
