Hello '02s! I haven't heard much from you all in the past few months, so when you finish reading this, send me an e-mail about fun summer adventures or new schools that you're starting this fall! I'd also like to remind all of you to pay your class dues. Class dues are very important for funding our Alumni Magazine subscriptions!
First off, I heard from our former class president Jen Tutak. Jen recently moved to Boston to begin research work and a masters in higher education at Harvard's Graduate School of Education. Not that she has any intention of turning in her Green for Crimson, however. Jen celebrated her last night in Philadelphia with none other than Lauren Grabowski, Kendra Kemp, Jon Cohen and Kathleen McDermott '03 at the Philly hotspot Monks, famed for its mussels and imported Belgium beers on tap.
Allan Klinge will also be starting a masters program at Harvard's Graduate School of Education in the fall. Allan and his roommates, Andrew Lang worthy, Sam Short and Mike Bergen, recently moved into a new apartment in Central Square in Cambridge. Sam has been working as operations manager at Harrys Bar & Grill in Brighton. If you're in the area, stop by—1430 Commonwealth Ave.—and he can probably hook you up with a free beer!
Just when you were beginning to think you'd heard enough about Harvard, I have news to report from Mark Bubriski about his completion of a master's in education policy—also at Harvard's Graduate School of Education. Mark studied there last year with fellow Dartmouth '02s Bill Meyer, Talia Miranda and Jeff Garrett. He then spent much of the summer in Boston, writing speeches and working with the media as research and special projects coordinator for the Democratic National Convention.
A couple other '02s are also involved in various political campaigns. Kate Murphy has been working for the Kerry campaign in both New Hampshire and Washington, D.C. AN Stuntz is also in Washington, D.C., where she headed after working for the Dean campaign.
Finally, I was lucky enough to spend an evening in Boston catching up with Lauren Lafaro. Flo spent the past year in Vail, Colorado, and when I saw her she was heading off on a two-month adventure in Costa Rica. When she returns, Flo intends to "enter the real world." Personally, I'm enjoying the pseudo-real world of graduate school at Tufts Vet School. I'm thinking about a career in veterinary nutrition so I spent a week this past summer being wined and dined by Purina in St. Louis. If anyone has any questions about dog food—feel free to ask. In the meantime, send me some news!
