By the time you get this issue of DAM, the late-October mini-reunion will have come and gone. I'll report any world-shaking events in my next column. In the meantime, here's what our June reunion chairman Jack Harned has to say about that upcoming reunion:
"All the forecasts point to a record breaking attendance at our 55th reunion. For three glorious June days in Hanover we'll be subject to the usual beautiful, balmy, sunny weather that is good for hiking, tennis, golf and just lolling and lazing around the campus, catching up on old times with great and new friends. And, if that's not enough, we are also planning a pre-reunion Moosilauke trip and dinner on Sunday, June 12, and a post-reunion gathering for sev- eral days at The Woodstock Inn. So keep an eye out for special mailings from your reunion com- mittee and circle the dates for next June. Re- union registration, under the watchful eyes of Walt and Rose Mary Lindenthal, begins Monday, June 13, and isfollowed by the first of several golf and tennis tournaments and a hike or a swim. Then there will be a clam-lobster baked dinner with song and entertainment afterward, cour- tesy of class voices and musicmen guided by Tom Ruggles.
"Tuesday and Wednesday will bring some special events highlighted by an updated reprise of the very successful 'Great Issues 2000' sym posium with the same stimulating participants: Frank Gilroy, Eric Miller, Lee Sarokin, Jim Strickler, George Woodwell and moderator Joe Medlicott. There will also be more time for golf, tennis, hiking and lolling about. The College will also offer some Alumni College programs and the glee clubs will sing. We'll have a class meeting, a class memorial service with the Rev. Jim Birney and a special dinner dance at the Collis Commons, where we can compare the metal trays of our own Freshman Commons to our own elegant seated dinner. Meals are being planned by our own gourmet chef, Joel Leavitt. So polish up your dancing shoes, call your classmates, volunteer to help with regional reunion recruitment and get ready for a tremendous time."
I hope you and yours are having a fine holiday season, and here's to a happy New Year for all of us.
