Two hours until this column is due and the snow is falling outside my window. Once again, I give thanks for Jeff Krolik, who sent me the following: "Had an e-mail from my old roommate Charley Wise that he would be passing through San Francisco for a quick lay- over on the way from Singapore to D.C. Charley is a foreign service officer in Singapore, and looked more alert at 8 a.m. after an all-night flight than I did after driving 20 minutes to the San Francisco airport. Anyway, all is well with Charley. Speaking of expatriates, Peter Endicott just returned to Boston after spending a year in Santiago, Chile. Peter and Carola both spent a number of years abroad while growing up, and thought it would be a good experience for their family to spend a year overseas. (I am trying to imagine that conversation in my house: Hey, kids! Great news! We're moving to Chile for a year!) The intrepid Endicotts reported that a great time was had by all. Spoke to Kent Pierce, who continues to chum out screenplays from Yarmouth, Maine. I spent some time with Kent and Kristen after our reunion last summer, and I think Kent was coaching three soccer teams and playing in one adult league. Jeff Crowe has given me an up-tothe-minute report on the Hanover Plain, as he returned from visiting his freshman daughter."
News also from Mark L. Hartman: "In April 20041 was promoted to medical director of U.S. endocrinology at Eli Lilly and Cos. I now manage a group of seven physicians and 25-30 associates involved with endocrine clinical trials in the United States. Although the pharmaceutical industry appears to be about as popular as the tobacco industry in the publics mind, I continue to enjoy working for Lilly. I am surrounded by idealistic, talented, hard-working people whose ethical standards are very high. We keep bringing new medicines to patients and that is very satisfying. My wife, Laurie Komornik Hartman 'BO, continues to work as director of community care at our church. Our three teenagers, David (19), Marian (16) and Lisa (13), are great kids. David is now a sophomore at Purdue."
That's all for this issue. Please send news.
