What are we really thinking about this holiday season? Okay, how about a show of hands. Family time, yes! Vacation, yes! Beernog, perhaps. Which gifts can be "regifted," absolutely! Why what's-their-name sent a holiday card that arrived on Christmas Eve and I hadn't sent one to them, yikes!
Anyway, enough of what I'm thinking. Here's the news. Thanks to Chris Hessler for his note, in which he claimed to have read a previous column with interest. Chris worked at P&G after graduation and since then has started and sold two marketing services companies (On Target Media and Imagitas). His third company, El Dorado Marketing, focuses on building direct marketing channels to the growing Hispanic- American population. Chris and wife Sandy (whom he met at P&G), have four kids between the ages of 3 and 11. At the time of his note, Chris was a tormented Red Sox fan, though I'm sure his anguish has turned to joy! Chris also reminisced about his German FSP/Beerfest adventures with Mikey Lehman (that's the recently married Mikey Lehman for those who did not read previous columns with interest).
Nothing like logging on to e-mail and hearing "You've got mail." From Babs. Yes, news to share about Kathy Jeavons. Babs is now a director at Public Strategies Inc., an Austin, Texasbased public affairs firm, after a previous role with Ketchum public relations. Babs is thrilled with the move, not only because it gives her a chance to write to me, but because Public Strategies is a smaller, more nimble company with a great client base, including lots of political figures. Babs wanted me to pass on congratulations to Mikeyas well!
Mr. Intellectual Property, Bob Skrivanek, appears in yet another column, this time courtesy of his wife, Larissa, who wrote with news of the birth of their son, Robert Anthony Skrivanek 111, born September 3,2004, and weighing in at 8 pounds, 9 ounces and measuring 21 inches. Young Bob joins older sister Alexa Marie (4) in the Skrivanek abode in Carlisle, Massachusetts. Need I say Bob was in AXA with Mikey?
For those awaiting news from John Kulseth, the wait continues. For those desperate for a Chris Gagnon story, sorry. But those looking for a Sal Sorce update, it's your lucky column. Sal and wife Karyn sent news of the birth of son Nicolas Samuel Sorce on November 18,2004, at 7:43 p.m. Young Nicolas was 8 pounds, 6 ounces, measuring 21 inches. No word on whether Young Bob Skrivanek is touting his 3-ounce advantage over Nicolas. Oh, by the way, Sal's an FOM (Friend of Mikey).
Hear ye! Hear ye! News from abroad from Eric Beinhocker has arrived. Eric is still in London, where he and wife Tilly recently had their first child, Anna, born in October. Eric is still rowing with the Thames Rowing Club. While competing in the Henley Veterans regatta, Eric rowed against the Putney Rowing Club USA team, a group of several '84s whom Eric rowed with at Henley years ago as part of a Dartmouth team. Check out the '85 Web site for a picture of Eric and crew. (Mikey Lehman not included!)
For those paying attention, this was the one- degree-of-Mikey-Lehman-separati on column. Suggestions for a replacement welcome. Hope everyone has a great spring!
