Interesting seasons greetings were received from several classmates. Stace and Kay Hill out in Oregon provided a happy photo of themselves. In September they had a family reunion in Dallas with four generations attending to celebrate Stace's 86th birthday and the twosomes 52nd anniversary. Robbins and Meg Barstow in Wethersfield, Connecticut, sent a fourpage newsletter about their family, and Robbins received notice that the Library of Congress was accepting his offer of 10,000 feet of film that he made during a period of 70 years.
A review of our 25th or 50th reunion books is recommended for a quiet afternoon of nostalgia. Below are some excerpts from 1965 biographies submitted by our classmates, some of whom have passed on but are not forgotten.
Arnie Bartlett: "A proud father of 10 children, we have settled in North Pembroke, Massachusetts, on Misty Meadows Farm, which is 100 acres of fields and woods. I am superintendent of schools in nearby Lowell."
Al Becker: "Tennis has become a fetish with me. I've left the sorry habits of smoking and drinking but my wife won't let me 'stop the other' that's left."
Jake Gidney: "The most exciting times of my life have been the fights with my ex-wife. In 1961 we separated, and in 1962 she succeeded in getting me fired from the partnership of a national CPA firm."
Chuck Bolte: "I've been executive vice president of the Viking Press since 1963. I'm still married to the girl who was Jupe Lewis' date at the fifth-down game in 1940."
Bob Feller: "Since 1950 I've been a senior fellow at the National Gallery of Art Research Project, Mellon Institute, doing research on the deterioration of artists' materials."
Fritz Cluthe: 'As president, owner and director of Strohmeyer and Arpe Cos., wares and foods, I've just completed my 88th crossing by air over the Atlantic and am now tri-lingual."
Dick Hill: "In the exalted position of 1/40th of the vice presidential staff of the First National Bank of Boston, I am baffled by my inability to win the undying adoration, respect and understanding of my children." (Surelyyou jest, Dick.)
