Amazing, all my e-mail is still about our 50th reunion and the great experience it was for so many! Jackets seem to have been the real hit of our reunion, and my guess is that you can still get one ifyou write to Tom Riker, 1991 Oxford Court, Vista, CA 92081; e-mail tncriker@ earthlink.com; phone (760) 599-0868 (Pacific time). An order accompanied by a check for $40, made out to the Class of 1956 and received by December 1, will do the trick. Sizes are unisex 53436, M38-40, L 42-44, XL46-48, 2XLSO-52, 3XL54-56. Your order should include size(s), mailing address, e-mail address, telephone number and, of course, a check (multi XLs add $2).
Tom Harper received almost one hundred pages of material from classmates for our time capsule to be opened during the class of 2006's 50th reunion. Among them are Al Friedman, Russ Cooper-Mead, Robert French, Russ Brace, Glen French, Paul Handverger, Dick Zock, Jack Crowley, Emerson Houck, Toby Julian, Dick Hlavao, Dick Zock, Ron MacKenzie, Flint Ranney, Tom Rosenwald, Leo McKenna, Bob Long, Russ Brace, Joel Ash, Les Reid, Buddy Schattman, Abner Oakes, Pren Carnell, Bob R. Faulkner and Ted Weymouth. They are to be congratulated for caring enough to leave for those who come after us a view of things as they seemed to us as members of the class of 1956. Among their offers are: predictions for the future of medicine, entertainment, Dartmouth and public education; a look back to how things were when we entered Dartmouth and a diary entry from a classmate on the day we graduated; a look at the Hanover of then and the challenges facing it in the future; and a host of things we treasure. There are Indian figures, Daniel Webster stamps, memorabilia from our sports activities, a freshman beanie, a fraternity pin, CDs and a Daily D. It's an amazing array of memorabilia and reflections.
The class received a thank-you note from the Dartmouth Athletic Sponsor Program we support in our class annual budget. We enabled the coaches to travel to visit a football prospect. He applied for early admittance and was accepted. Look for Matthew Dornak from Austin, Texas, of the class of 2010 on the football field!
Bill Behrems wrote me of really missing the reunion but appreciating what he's been able to read about it. Fred Abraham loved it all, especially the Hood Museum and theviewof theAdirondacks over Lake Champlain on the night of our cruise. John Chapman treasured meeting in the flesh those with whom he has been corresponding via the Internet the last fewyears. Art Zich had a great time too, but came home with a case of Lyme disease he evidently picked up while visiting in Connecticut.
News came of Ralph Maniscalco's death, and Kevin Ryan crafted an obituary printed elsewhere in this issue.
