The first cabin built by the DOC in 1913 was named after Fred Harris, Class of 1911 and DOC founder. The cabin is now being reconstructed by a crew of students and alumni in the American Scribe style, which requires notches to be in the logs so they fit snugly together with no nails used in the construction. Black spruce logs from the Second College Grant are a key component. This is the biggest DOC project since Moosilauke Ravine Lodge constructed in 1938-39.
