Happy winter—so far for me it's been a great one—two consecutive snow-day three-day weekends! What could be better than that? Remember playing snow-day roulette when you were growing up? It's just as fun now as an adult.
Dan Subin sent news of my former sophomore -year roommate, Tony Godsick. Tony is married to former tennis star and current tennis commentator Mary joe Fernandez and they have two children. Dan writes that Tony "has forged a career in the sports management business that would intrigue many, especially the sportssavvy alumni of the Big Green. He works for IMG, the biggest sports marketing company in the world. Currently Dartmouth's own version of Jerry Maguire has the very meaningful distinction (not sure it's ever previously occurred) of managing both the No. 1 ranked women's and men's tennis players, Lindsay Davenport and Roger Federer. After interning for IMG while at Dartmouth, he joined them immediately upon graduation with an early success highlight managing Monica Seles." Gone are my days of yelling from the football sidelines to "Put Godsick in!" Now I should be calling to ask for pointers to cure my anemic serve. Unfortunately, Dan did not send any of his own news; maybe Tony will return the favor.
Peter McHugh's little brother sent news of Peter ter s success in Hollywood. The Hollywood Reporter named Peter one of the Top Managers under 35. This list was a "roundup of 35 of the most talented executives in the fields of film, television, representation, legal and new media ages 35 and under," and compiled by .Reporter editors and reporters. Take a look at the full article at www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr/film/feature_ display.jsp?vnu_content_id=i00i435535.
Peter is a manager at the Gotham Group. A majority of his clients are originally animators, but Peter has sought to push them in a variety of directions. The article quotes Peter as beginning ning to develop his Hollywood management career as a kid. Peter's first work was to make fake tickets and stuff popcorn into plastic bags—both of which he would later sell to his parents and make them sit down for one of his screenings in the family living room.
Which is pretty much the perfect way to spend a cold winter evening. Keep the news coming!
