For most of us, wherever we may be living, spring has sprung—at the time of my writing (end of February), here in Washington our daffodils and crocuses have already emerged and are welcome color after a stormy winter. It is a great time to get in touch with old friends by sending in a bit of news; wed love to hear what YOU have been up to!

Steve Dettelbach kindly responded to my most recent request for news. He writes: "My wife, Karil, and I are living in Cleveland, Ohio. The big news is that we have a new 5-monthold son, David, who came in at a whopping 10 pounds! His big sister Allie, who just turned 3, promptly announced that David's mother was the nurse and that he was free to go back to the hospital at any time. Other than that I am still happily employed as a federal prosecutor doing public corruption and organized crime cases, which, unfortunately, seem to overlap all too often. Karil is the deputy health director for Cleveland and is anxiously awaiting my departure this summer for a long weekend in Minnesota with '88s John Rajala, Brent Frei and other miscreants of my youth. I keep telling her that I have to be nice to these people, because they are the ones with all the good blackmail material!"

January 2006 brought job changes and promotions to several of our classmates; the rest of our updates were reported in news articles from The Boston Globe, Business Wire and the Denver Post.

The Boston Globe named Jay Fogarty vice president of strategic planning. As such, he will oversee the department that assesses business opportunities developed under the umbrella of The Boston Globe's media division. He also will help set the growth strategy for the Globe newspaper Jay had previously worked for Interland Inc., a provider of online and application services to small businesses.

From Morrisville, North Carolina, we hear that John Replogle has been named chief executive officer and president of Burt's Bees Inc. For the prior three years, John was the general manager of skin care at Unilever, North America. He also served on the company's operating executive committee and global category board. His leadership was marked by successful efforts to improve the division's innovation, recraft their marketing and build a strong leadership team. The article also reported that John is married with four daughters and is an active volunteer with the humanitarian aid organization Americares.

In January Denver fund giant Janus Capital Group appointed David Corkins as the new manager of its flagship Janus Fund. With $11.2 billion in assets, it is Colorado's largest mutual fund. David joined Janus in 1995 and rose inside the organization by successfully managing the Mercury Fund (since February 2003) and the Janus Growth and Income Fund from 1997 to 2003.
