"Summertime and the living is easy." The warmer months in New England are always my favorite, and they've brought some wonderful news from our classmates.
Paul Simpson and his wife, Sandra, welcomed Daniel Robert on the Ides of March. Little Simps weighed in just shy of 8 pounds. For those keeping a scorecard, he is No. 3. Paul is a guidance counselor and coach at his high school alma mater Malvern Prep, outside of Philly.
John Christmas and his wife, Laine, had their first child on February 27 at Hospital Costa del Sol, Marbella, Spain. Thomas weighed a very metric 4.53 kg (that's about 10 pounds for the conversion-challenged).
In order to get an update from our own Mel Schneeberger I had to read an article in The NewYork Times. It documents the journey that she and her husband have taken over the past several years from the creature comforts of cushy "coupledom" in Manhattan to the trials and tribulations of relocation, renovation and procreation in Massa chusetts. She's living well with her two kids in suburban Boston.
Priya Venkatesan writes that she became en- gaged on Valentine's Day on the Hanover Green. Both Priya and fiance Ezra Hays work at Dartmouth Medical School. She recently finished her Ph.D. in literature from UC San Diego and is working as a postdoctoral fellow in the department of medicine at the Med School. Her Ph.D. focus is an interdisciplinary study between science and literary theory. Congrats to Priya.
Rick Hazelton recently moved from Williston Northampton in Massachusetts to become the head of school at lona Prep in Westchester County, New York. He and wife Colleen have a boy and two girls.
Nancy Staab is Paper City Magazine's new Atlanta editor. She spent the past five years with Southern Progress Corp., where she held the title of architecture and gardens editor at SouthernAccents. Paper City is a style and social publication that focuses on fashion, home design, food, travel and trends.
Suany Chough is working as the senior design advisor for the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation. Suany works on the design and planning of both the memorial and museum, which will be built at the WTC site.
If you get a chance, check out the new alumni Web portal where there's a link to the '90 home page (www.dartmouth90.org). You'll be glad you did. Enjoy the rest of the summer and keep those updates coming.
