I scribe this column, as the snow lingers on the ground, with strong anticipation of a fast-approaching spring. I hope you have more than survived the winter wherever life finds you!
We heard exciting news from London-based Brooks Preston about employment changes and new opportunities. He writes, "Big change for me—Friday [January 18] was my last day with British Petroleum. I have enjoyed the past five years at BP, learned a lot and had the privilege to work with extremely dedicated people, especially with the alternative energy businesses. However, I've decided to move a little further 'beyond petroleum.' Beginning in February I will join Wolfensohn & Cos., a firm founded by Jim Wolfensohn, formerly of the World Bank. My focus will be on clean energy private equity investing in emerging markets—a sector that has enormous growth potential, great investment opportunities and the chance to make a material impact on climate change—all this underpinned by the unique access and perspective that Wolfensohn & Cos can provide. I am really looking forward to it."
