Hello '99s! Summer is here, and I hope you are all finding ways to make the most of the sunshine and the warm weather. I don't have much news to report and so this letter will be brief.
First, Nick Ratliff writes that he has started a band called Devastating Karate in California. Nick writes: "I formed the band last summer with another Dartmouth '99, Zach Lewis. He plays drums and I play guitar/sing. We started the group when Zach moved to L.A. last summer as an aspiring actor. Our bass player Monk Turner is not an Ivy Leaguer. We've since released an album and played shows in SoCal—we're based in Venice." The band toured the southwest in May and is excited about its prospects. You can learn more about the band and upcoming tours on its Web site, www.devastatingkarate.com. Good luck, Nick and Zach!
Margaret Cashion Lysy reports that she and her husband, David Lysy, visited New York to see the Conan O'Brien Show. While there they had a chance to spend time with George Gorayeb and JiSoo Park. Meg writes: "Ji-Soo and George are both doing great and gave us the grand tour of the city. George works as a stock trader and land developer and Ji-Soo is in technology at Lehman Brothers."
Finally, I am happy to write that I my self have news to share with you. In March Tony Perry became engaged to Ecaterina Radvan, a Moldovan national studying for a masters in European Union integration at the University of Essex in the United Kingdom. We met when my best friend, a Peace Corps volunteer at the time, married her sister in Moldova last year. It truly was love at first sight and we are amazed at how much we have in common. We have planned a small wedding on June 8 in London and look forward to starting our new lives together!
That's all the news for now. Have a great summer, and I look forward to learning about any news or updates you might have!
