This editions in-depth coverage is Wayne Hobin, our intrepid co-head agent and Web site guru. Wayne may win the prize for diversity with careers ranging from dentistry to anesthesiology to real estate. He is currently living in beautiful Lake Keowee (near Clemson, South Carolina) and has worked as the associate real estate broker at Ist Choice Realty for the past six years. Prior to Lake Keowee Wayne lived (and sold real estate) in Arizona and in Puerto Penasco, Sonora, Mexico. In Arizona he had a position with the state in which he heard real estate valuation cases as a hearing officer.
On the extracurricular front rowing has been Wayne's passion and it has taken him around the world. He was president of the Hartford Barge Club in Connecticut and went to masters regattas from Ghent, Belgium, to Bangkok, Thailand. Wayne loves to ski both on water and snow and is leading our class participation in the CarniVAIL started by the '65s in Vail, Colorado.
Waynes goals for the class include finding new venues where class members can "reune" (like a class 60th birthday party in 2009), as well as raising our giving participation from the near 52 percent contribution level last year to more than 55 percent this year. See the complete coverage of Wayne on our class Web site (www.dartmouth.org/classes/71).
Stephen E. Brown was selected by his peers to be included in the 2007 edition of The Best Lawyersin America for the practice areas of labor and employment law and workers'compensation law for his work at Maynard, Cooper & Gale, P.C., in Birmingham, Alabama. Congratulations, Stephen!
John Baldwin reported that he is in his fifth year in northern Italy and still enjoying the coffee (what about the wine?). Lots of good skiing and mountain air too! He is quasi-retired while taking advantage of walking, skiing or enjoying the less demanding aspects of Italian life. He works with his terrestrial yacht (a 16-hectare vineyard property in Languedoc, France), from where he wrote this news during the 2006 harvest. He sees great potential here for amini-reunion in northern Italy or Languedoc. Count me in.
