Happy new year to my fellow 88s! From the west Coast we hear that Lisa Bransten is living in San Francisco with her husband John, and kids Hanna (7) and George (4). She writes, 'After Dartmouth I stuck with journalism, eventually ending up a reporter covering technology and venture capital in the San Francisco bureau of The Wall Street Journal. I stopped writing when George was born and am now doing some consulting. I saw Kate Phillips a couple times this summer since we have cabins close to each other in Lake Tahoe. I also keep in touch with Jeff Hoover, who moved to South Africa this summer. My funniest Dartmouth coincidence is that a friend of mine moved from San Francisco to Larchmont, New York, and ended up just around the corner from Jack Steinberg."

Then to the East Coast: After receiving an email written by a '68 and inspired by Brian Cor- coran's Phi Juke story in our Sept-0ct 2006 issue, I couldn't resist contacting Brian directly. In his words, he shares: "I am a partner in the D.C. office of a Chicago law firm and do litigation, meaning I sue people. I have three kids and plenty of hassles but try to find time to relax with my wife when possible. I've been trying the past year or two to get my writing mojo going again and recently got something published in The Washington Post—now all I need is an agent (and would love to hear from any '88s who can point me to one—I've repeatedly asked Baltimore heiress Caroline McKeldin Wayner for her help, since she wrote some books and even got on Conan O'Brien's show a few years back, but all she gives me is the gas face').

"There are other '88s reportedly in the Bethesda-Chevy Chase realm where I live, but I'll be damned if I ever see them. Once in a while, while getting my car washed or waiting in line at the post office I'll spy Sarah Jackson-Han or Lee (Asher) Prince through the crowd—but the moment I turn around they vanish, wraith-like, and I wonder if I only imagined seeing them, as if my life is becoming like The Sixth Sense. Bob Sproull has been here for a year or so nabbing terrorists for the FBI—I was supposed to hook up with him this summer when sexy Pat Brophy and wife Lesley '87 were visiting D.C., but he cancelled due to a conflict— he had to go arrest someone. I guess that's a good excuse. Jay Sotos lives in Arlington, Virginia, with his family—l saw him last summer when Rob "Smitty" Smith came to town from Cape Cosd—he's soon moving to Hollywood to become rich and famous. Karl Engkvist lives on Capitol Hill but travels constantly for his job at Blackboard.com—he did take me sailing this summer with my kids in Chesapeake Bay and drenched us all in the process, but I will not hold that against him. I frequendy correspond with Don Kempf and John Sinnott through the miracle of email. Recently they mounted a multi-million-dollar search effort for lost alum John Comer Kirkley, who disappeared into the wild Atlanta suburbs awhile back and is now rumored to be the charismatic leader of a shadowy cult a la Jim Jones. Anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts should call 1-800-GET-COMER."

Uwe Brandes also lives in D.C. with his wife, Nicole, and two daughters Clare (4) and Justine (3). He is V.P. in charge of design and construction at an urban redevelopment agency called the Anacostia Waterfront Corp. working on large-scale real estate and environmental restoration projects along the Anacostia River. He still keeps in close contact with Josh Stein and Sean Hogan.
